A Comparative Study of Soft Storey Buildings with Equivalent Diagonal Struts during Earthquakes

Abhinav vashishtha, Depak Bandewar, Rakesh Patel

Abstract

The evaluation of soft storey buildings during earthquakes is vital as these structures tend to be highly flexible and susceptible to lateral vibrations. In this study, a six-story building (G+5) is analyzed with varying positions of soft storey floors. The objective is to assess the impact of soft storey on the overall behavior of the building and to enhance its stability through the implementation of equivalent diagonal struts at the center and corners. The aim is to determine the most effective pattern of equivalent diagonal struts that can withstand wind and earthquake loading.
