Comparison between with and without horizontal bracing on sloping and plain ground: seismic zone iii

K. K. Pathak, Salunkhe U.S

Abstract

In this work, the structure selected for study is G+12 storied regular RC residential building. The seismic analysis of 5 bays (6m x 6m room size) buildings on varying slope angles were studied and compared with the same on the flat ground. The seismic forces of zone III were considered as per IS: 1893:2002 in STAAD.Pro software for the structural analysis. In this paper columns, plinth beams, slab beams and terrace beamsanalyzed and axial loads, shear forces, bending moments and deflections are calculated and compare with and without horizontal bracing when seismic force is considered. The ground level is tilted at angle 5°,10°and15°for Zone III and 12 models are analyzed. When tilted angle increases critical in axial loads, shear forces, bending moments and deflectionsas compare to flat ground. There is uneconomical diaphragm system for flat ground symmetrical structural models. All structural components all forces in diaphragm system models are decreases compare with seismic loads building models.
