Abstract

Tall buildings are affected by lateral forces due wind & earthquake. For most of the buildings wind load is critical than earthquake load &need to be controlled by using suitable methods. Most effective & feasible solution is to modify the geometry of building. So, this paper is an attempt to study behavior of different plan shaped multistoried buildings to the wind load. Five models with various plan shapes like rectangular, Z, hexagonal, heptagonal & octagonal shape are created & analyzed with help of STAAD-PRO software &using IS:875(part 3)-1987. The comparison has been done in terms of storey drift, lateral displacement, axial force, shear force, torsional moment & bending moment. The plan shape having least values of all parameters was considered the most stable among all. From the analysis it has been found that hexagonal plan shape is most stable.
