Manufacturing of interlocking brick with cement- lime mortar and hyposludge

Brindha Sathiaseelan, S. Karthikadevi, M.Hannah Angelin

Abstract

Lime is still a valuable building material that is frequently used in construction as lime mortar. Hydrated lime can be added to concrete mixes used to make blocks and other concrete products. Sugarcane mud, also characterized as filter cake, is a byproduct of the sugar purification process. The introduction of these components into the environment pollutes it. There have been several attempts to address these difficulties. A experiment of manufacturing interlocking brick with the ratio of 1:4:6 (one part cement, four parts M sand, and six parts red soil) is being largely replaced with cement and lime as it creates cement lime mortars, flyash for M sand, hypo sludge, and sugarcane press mud for red soil. The experimental replacement included percentages of 4, 8, and 12 of the aforementioned substances in the ratio of 1:4:6. The superplastizer employed in the study is Polycarboxylate ether (PEC10), and the water cement ratio is kept constant at 0.4. The results demonstrated a superior solution to the pollution problem as well as cost effective material manufacture.
