Abstract

This artical examine the energy harvesting by the use of Smart material in the bridges or VUPs( vehicle underpass ) . For harvesting energy from bridges vibrations , there are mainly three different kinds of mechanism: electromagnetic , piezoelectric, electrostatic. among the three , the piezoelectric-based energy harvesting is a very mature one , which has been widely used . At the same time structure health monitoring can be done by the use of piezoelectric material .Structure Health Monitoring (SHM) gives aims to give a diagonsis at every moment during the life of a structure which reduce the life cycle cost.
