Abstract

The present study aims to investigate ground water quality of Karnal and Kurukshetra districts of
Haryana. This study is based upon the empirical and scientific evaluation of under groundwater
sample collected from the twenty wells scattered in the study area. In the analysis of collected sample
certain parameters are taken into consideration. These samples are collected during post-monsoon
season of the 2019. In total 20 samples are collected from 10 different blocks of these districts of
Haryana. Physico-chemical parameter pH, TDS, Na+, K+, EC, were determined using the data, SAR,
RSC %Na were calculated based on United States Department of Agricultural (USDA) Classification.
The results were compared with IS 10500 guidelines. The pH value of these samples ranges from 6.5
to 7.36 and Na+ value of these samples ranges from 2.1 to 24.3 during post monsoon. The study
reveals that 60% of the area under study falls in polluted category. The groundwater of Karnal and
Kurukshetra districts needs some treatment before consumption.
