Abstract

Deterioration of ground water resources has been a major concern of human society. The aim is to preserve and to maintain the balanced biological communities and sustainable stream ecosystem health. The hydro chemical study is an important parameter for determining the water quality for the end-users. The study for the same has been carried on the ground water by collecting groundwater samples in Tirupur district. A total number of 25 samples were collected and analyzed. The samples were subjected to a comprehensive physico chemical analysis of parameters such as pH, electrical conductivity, turbidity, calcium, magnesium, total hardness, calcium hardness, chloride, ammonia, nitrate, sulfate, TDS, TSS, iron, chromium. geographical information system has been used to map the sampling area. The co-ordinates in terms of latitude and longitude of the sampling locations were recorded with the help of global positioning system. The ammonia, nitrate and sulfate are determined by the spectrophotometer. Titrating method such as chloride is agitated with silver nitrate. Poor water quality has been observed in commercial zone of study area.
