Abstract

It is well recognised that liquid storage tanks possess low ductility and energy absorbing capacity compared to conventional building. Accordingly, various design codes and guidelines provide higher level of design seismic forces for tanks. In this design principle for Intze type water tank, provisions from working stress method for static analysis and IITKGSDMA guidelines for dynamic analysis have been incorporated. Intze type water tank is used for high capacity storage of water. The pressure intensity distribution on the floor of such type of tank is less than other intakes. Static Analysis or Membrane analysis and Dynamic analysis are used to calculate the reinforcement details.
