Design of Multistoryed Building Using STAAD Pro

Abstract


The chief aim of the current project is to analyze and design a multi-storeyed building [G +5 (3d frame)] using STAAD ProV8i. The design deals with the calculation of the load manually and analysis of the structure is done by STAAD Pro software. The method of design used by STAAD pro as per Indian code is Limit State Design. STAAD.Pro features a state-of-the-art user interface, visualization tools, with advanced finite element and dynamic analysis capabilities and powerful analysis and design engines. From model generation, analysis and design to visualization and result verification, the professional’s choice is STAAD.Pro. The user interface of STAAD.Pro is very interactive which allows the users to input the load values and dimensions and draw the frame. It analyses the structure and designs the members with reinforcement details for RCC frames according to the specified criteria assigned. We considered a 3-D RCC frame which has different spans of beams and all the sides have different dimensions and the structure is a multiple structure in which an expansion joint is provided the y axis coordinate is of 18 meters in which 3 m is the height of each floor level. The structure was subjected to self weight, dead load, live load, seismic wind load and wind load the details of sesmic loads are given as per the Zone II under the load case details of STAAD.Pro. The wind load was provided as per the intensity of the location generated by STAAD.Pro considering the given wind intensities at different heights and strictly abiding by the specifications of IS 875. Seismic load calculations were done following IS 1893-2000. The materials were specified and cross-sections of the beam and column members were assigned. The supports present at the base of the structure were also specified and fixed. The codes of practise to be followed were also specified for design purpose with other important details.
