Mechanical Properties of sand blasting residue concrete

Abstract


Sand Blasting Residue (SBR) form chain manufacturing companies as a large massive by-product. Steel-slag hydrated matrix is made of ground granulated blast furnace slag powder & steel-making slag which is the by-product of iron manufacturing. This type of construction material is called environmental conscious material in Japan. This research presented that the strength of steel-slag hydrated matrix depends on the pH of the steel-slag hydrated matrix after mixing. Firstly, cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, Industrial waste physical & chemical properties were calculated & then, M30 grade of concrete is designed by DOE method. SBR replaced fine aggregate or natural sand by 0%, 25% & 50%. Workability of fresh concretes of different models are determined by a slump cone test. Compressive, flexural & split tensile strengths calculated for hardened concrete for 3, 7 & 28 days. SBR used in cube, beam & cylinder it concluded that compressive strength, flexural & split tensile strengths are increased by using SBR & it’s very successful for massive structures of 25% replacement to sand.
