Abstract

Within creasing population in rapidly developing smart cities, sewage treatment has become necessary for treating sewage before disposing git off in water body as it can cause harm to human and aquatic life. Different sewage treatment methods are being used and a comparative study is done of Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) process, Activated Sludge Process (ASP), Sequence Batching Reactor (SBR), Membrane Bioreactor (MBR). Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) is used as a decision-making tool while constructing any sewage treatment plant. In this paper LCCA is carried out for sewage treatment plants using Sequential Batching Reactors (SBR) technology. The LCCA per MLD for Nerul Sewage Treatment Plant is Rs. 2,00,00,000/- and that for Koparkhairane Sewage Treatment Plant is Rs. 1,83,00,000/- With the aid of this case study, a sewage treatment plant is to be designed for rapidly developing city of Ulwe, Raigad. Population estimation for next 30 years is done as well as this will help to find the approximate sewage generated and hence calculate the required capacity of sewage treatment plant.
