The Role of Off-Site Construction Technology in Building Construction Industry

Birhanu Muluken Tessera

Abstract

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to display the role of off-site method of construction technology. On this research, descriptive case study method was employed. Both primary and secondary data sources were utilized, in which primary data were collected through personal interview, desk study, questionnaires and field observation and secondary data were collected from different documents and sources. The findings showed that, off-site construction has a great role on reduction of constriction schedule, material wastes, site disturbance, conflicts and to improve quality, safety, productivity, environmental friendly, resource efficient, creating stable job opportunity, make clean construction sites, reduce formwork and scaffolding requirement and protect deforestation and encourage green economy.

Key words: Building, Method of Construction, Off-Site, On-site, Role
