Abstract

Road transportation is the lifeline of the nation and its development is a crucial concern. The traditional bituminous pavement needs the continuous maintenance and rehabilitation operations, which ultimately leads to the scope for cement concrete pavements. This paper highlights the effects of polypropylene fibers in concrete paver blocks, which is a recent advancement in the field of reinforced concrete pavement design. Concrete paver blocks prepared for M30 grade and the experimental investigation like compressive strength, split tensile, water absorption and thermal effect are carried out. Polypropylene fibers are added in different percentages (0%, 0.05%, 0.15%, 0.25%, and 0.35%) in the paver blocks. The compressive strength and split tensile of concrete pavement was tested at 28 days. Water absorption and thermal effect for 200ºC was tested at 28 days. The paver block with the addition of polypropylene fiber at 0.15% shows better strength performance compared to conventional pavement.
